Race #4 Report

Well, 7pm rolled around last Friday for race #4 of the series, and just Seth and I were standing in the parking lot, ready to stretch the legs for some friendly competition.  Lowell's Loop was the course of choice for the evening.  We were greeted with clear skies and actually quite nice groomed packed powder which made the suffering more enjoyable.  Seth and I enjoyed talking gear (both of us soon to be piloting new lighter skis soon) and about the upcoming Vertfest this weekend before we settled into fast mode.  When the night was done Seth, the always fast downhill skier, edged me out by seconds for the win, we both finished in 1 hour 17 min besting our previous FKT by a minute.

  1. Have you considered doing this on weekdays rather than Friday/Saturday? Me and a friend are interested in participating, but this schedule interferes with weekend trips.

I also don't see anything on the calendar. Are you done for the year?

  3. Hi Jake,

Thanks for checking out the site. The idea for the Series was to start it at the beginning of the season and have it end when Vertfest happens. I am planning on having some more races though. The next planned race will be on Saturday the 16th, it will be a Silver Peak race, if the backcountry looks less than ideal you should check it out, it is a fun race. Or, the race starts at 7:30 am, you could race then go touring! As far as Friday, Saturday vs weekdays, that was something I really thought about a lot this year, mostly I scheduled it this way because it worked out best for childcare with a new baby at home. I am planning on trying a week night race or two in the next month, so check out the site in the next couple of weeks.

    Cheers,
    Brandon

    1. Hi Ryan, thanks for checking out the site. The plan is for a consistent weekly series this season, which week day will be determined. Be sure to check back in November and I will hopefully have the calendar updated.
